Smearing the Lines Between News and Opinion

It’s so difficult, to watch and read news these days. It’s the use of government, special interest, and corporate quotes as facts. It’s representing these statements as truth, with no follow-up investigation to assure truth and accuracy in the reporting, that is disturbing.
The smearing of the line between news facts and opinion, until one isn’t discernible  from the other, by most viewers and readers, is an important  issue . The act alone, almost precludes consumers of these forms of media, from making logical choices based in fact. With dumbed down  news programs, that are short on fact replacing the pertinent, with word manipulation, opinion based propaganda, and additions or censorship’s for the sake of supporting a corporate agenda, I’m not sure what I expect.

These circumstances within sources of information amount to at least lies of omission, and at worst bold-faced overt lies.

Some might think I’m referring to one source over another, right or left broadcasting. No, that is my point. Right/Left broadcasting is counter productive. Whether it’s Fox News or MSNBC, whether it’s Rachel Maddow or Sean Hannity, whether it’s Piers Morgan or Bill O’Reilly, presenting the opinions it matters not. It’s all a disservice to the public.

The public is now and will be, denied facts, investigation, and truth. We’re fed a news diet of opinion based fear and greed. News that’s full of saturated fat, additives, preservatives, and sweeteners. An information diet so unhealthy, were it food, Michael Bloomberg would try to limit or cut it completely from your diet.

Guns Mental Health and Manipulation

I have experience dealing with those who have mental health issues. I’ve also listened to the current gun control debate, with all the proposals put forth, as actions to take. There was an action recommended, that I found the most disingenuous. The action was to increase funding to mental health services, so those who may cause violent get weeded out, with a list created of those names. These would be lists of those they consider a future risk to the public.

Doesn’t this action remind anyone of a lesson we should have learned long ago? Also, hasn’t anyone connected the issues between the growing use of psychoactive and psycho-reactive “Prescription Drugs”. Use is rapidly growing, especially by those younger in age, at the behest of school teacher, school officials, councilors, and parents.

Think of the lists they will make, or have already made. Is your child identified as ADD or ADHD? Is there a comment about antisocial behavior, or a “doesn’t work well with others”, on your child’s report card? Has you child even been in a fight at school? Have you ever seen a councilor or psychologist? Have you ever been prescribed a medication used by Psychiatrist, for treating  stress anxiety or depression?

That list just grows and grows, once you start. You also need to ask, what good will a list actually do for the public good? At this point you might even ask, is the list they want to make, for the public’s good to start. Especially with the loss to our rights and privacy that have already taken place.

The Pharmaceutical Multinationals will have to take note, making real and substantive statements about these risks and efficacy of their medications.

So, I see a few problems. I see the list making by the government as, an identified danger from the past. I see the weakened, due to real mental health concerns, as ripe for abuse by government-funded mental health, and psychiatric systems. Those in the government-funded system have little to no defense against such abuses, and accept medications without understanding them. The greatest majority lack the ability to question the choice of one drug over another,. I see the growth of those young given an ADD and ADHD diagnosis as more than an issue of misdiagnosis. I see the arrest of a 6-year-old, for making a gun with their fingers, as I did as a child, as not a safety measure. I see these media spectacles not as news, but a psychological manipulation of the adult populations opinion. As there’s a Huge movement to limit the future disbursement of firearms

The plan fact is, there are those who will do horrible things, and when an inappropriate variable’s included in the mix it’s even more likely. Fact is, gun control laws won’t matter, to those who will do horrible things. Fact is, those with mental health issues are easily manipulated and easy scapegoats. Fact is, many mental health related pharmaceuticals have some horrible side effects. Fact is Psychiatry is a business and if they don’t prescribe, people don’t come back. A fact that’s also true is, when power and control become involved, those in the mix no matter the side will present only facts that support their side of the argument. The sad fact to all of this, many will believe a side of an issue without ever looking at the issue.

Let’s be real, those that need mental health care, generally receive poor care. This will not change. And let’s be real again, taking guns from the public would be more dangerous to the public, than leaving the guns in the hands of their owners. Lets be real too, there will always be those who go over the edge, and not having a gun for them, won’t change the outcome.

Conclusion : All the rhetoric, no matter the side, is simply that rhetoric. And any appearance of concern for ones fellows in this debate, is only pretense. Make your own call, instead of falling in line with those who would manipulate you to “Blame” today’s favorite whipping boy, The Mentally Ill.

I Know What I Feel

Here is a sentence that holds more truths than the simple words imply. “I know what I feel.”

Feelings are a burden. The overriding of logic with emotion,. a problem specific only to humans in our animal kingdom. Many times a serious hindrance to our advancement as a species, while it adds depth to culture. Isn’t depth in culture, the path to allow a thinking species its eventual advancement? It feels as if that’s the answer in a times of heightened emotion. Simply talking the foot off the gas, of the one “unified world” theory.

Even the staggering stumbling steps so far, seem destined to fail. As the “Emotions” we share are the same, but the “Feelings” stimulated vary by culture, upbringing, and personal experience. This variance is what causes a continuation to illogical wars. While also making a world governing body an eventual, and inevitable failure, without a change from its present philosophical direction. One which presently seems diametrically opposed to culture, despite the titles given to its programs .

I feel power and domination forcing change, isn’t real change. I feel finding supporters of domination, by the powerful, and their interventions to cause change, isn’t real change either. I’d like to feel centralized power in a few elites, is losing the control it once had. Unfortunately I’m a realist, and the needed technologies aren’t there yet. I also feel it won’t, for many “justified“ reasons . I don’t feel good about that either, because there are many methods implemented to form the cultures opinion. Not all of those methods are of organic origin, but planned manipulations. All opinions can’t even yet be understood without this depth of cultures. I feel there is constant work to stifle this depth, going on behind the scenes daily.

I feel a wave is slowly forming in all regions of the world, and I’m not speaking of the many “springs”. I feel a wave of understanding has begun to take form, on the manipulations of the past, and the abuses brought on the various cultures by those manipulations. I feel the worst part is, these manipulations of people’s  over the years  were somehow for me.

I fail to understand those with power. I see power in domination, but I see how compromise has infinite power as well. Even if it’s a slightly different form. How can this not be seen as the tool it is? Is it that it’s more difficult and requires one to learn new tactics? To actually think. The power wielded through compromise builds feeling and cultural connection. Power through domination, overt or subtle, stomps feeling and cultural connection.

We value material as the citizens of a nations of dominating power, not culture. Is that the right side of history? I feel human drones aren’t what we were to aspire to . A mirror image of each other worldwide, isn’t a rich place to live. Even with the latest I-Phone, you’re just another worker bee.

Our world is as diverse as its people and their feelings. Those feelings form opinions. The present trend of a “one size fits all” method of rule, seems destined to fail. Unification of cultures isn’t possible yet, with our lack of depth. Our understand of each other has some way to go I feel, and from now on cultural depth is under fire.

My reference for these thoughts of mine are, “I know what I feel”.

Creditors Over People

Does logic enter the discussions about bailouts and austerity? It seems it’s not. It is an error to think that those who are struggling will follow along blindly. The EU leadership here, is the cause of escalating protests. Protests frankly, that will only grow. I expect the growth will continue exponential, as the public outcry reaches critical mass.

This difficult situation is almost built into the system, and set to occur, because of the high percentage of youth unemployment. It will grow because further jobs are now set to leave the most volatile economies of the Euro zone. Even as the powers that be try to flood the media with stories of the latest trouble being averted.

The reality, when looking at the nature of man and the basic requirements to support life, the circumstance causing these protests were set  from the very start. Especially when the disenfranchised are the most energetic and educated about the practices in politics, but are left with nothing to do.

Jobs, or rather the lack of jobs, are the issue. They however, have been left out of the austerity talks, between struggling economies and the troika. This only shows that people, citizens of the EU nations, are secondary to creditor requirements.

The Government is in place, or was, for people. This emphasis has certainly transformed itself into a government against the people themselves. Suffering and famine of the people is now acceptable. The suffering and famine of non-living entities are now the unacceptable outcome.

I can see many possible futures, for the EU . My most hopeful future, has human interests returning to dominance. My logic says the trend will continue and protests will grow and spread even more. I worry though in this trend that protest and protesters will fall under harsher and harsher retaliation. I can even see a form of martial law coming into effect, to keep protesters as silent as possible, as debt caused by bailouts grows.

The reporting on these EU protests are somewhat down played, and the true reasoning behind the protests are seldom given much airtime. But then again, when were the young people’s voices last heard? I’m thinking those protests were last heard protesting  past foreign wars.

This tone through the EU will to continue, with the Elite ruling classes ignoring the citizens needs, for that of the financial industry as it deals with  repayment of debt. This  after making obvious poor choices in the financing of sovereign debt. A condition for which they only have themselves to blame. The powers that be however, punish the citizen worker, to pay back loans that were erroneously given and taken because of artificially low borrowing costs.

Still even seeing the possible outcomes, I say protest on. I feel as if the citizens have been literally sold-out, by their leadership. And maybe it’s a good thing the protesters, for the most part, are young. They will have the energy to carry on the fight for awareness. Exposing the plight of the young and poor, the disenfranchised people of the EU. Godspeed.

Returning to a Point, Before Fear

I have always loved people. People of all kinds. I don’t place rules on people. By that I mean, predetermine expectations that beliefs habit or culture must match my beliefs, or accept my ways as better and something to strive for.

For me, the present ways of the world are confusing. War and conflict, death and destruction, divide and conquer are the ways I speak of. With what seems to also be a struggle for resources, hidden behind the banner of American style democratization, hiding unspoken at the core of the present, confusing way. A phenomenon I see as the, I must get mine before you get yours, mind-set.

This phenomenon is caused, I feel, by a self-imposed fear. Not so much of the individuals fear, although it has affected that too, but a national fear. A fear that’s been easy to tap into, after The United States physical geography was compromised by attack. It was said at the time, “we can’t let a good crisis go to waste”.

I think this was the final huddle, for an agenda based in fear. Fear of a loss of influence, power, and control of a World Stage, as other more populous countries become stronger economic powers. The thinking and logic behind resource control, which is our foreign policy, allows for metering national economic advancements, in up and coming economic powers. The thinking here is, controlling  resources allow for the limitation of imports on those resources. Resources that could create large revenues for advancing economic powers.

This action has been pushed by China quietly gathering access to reserves of Rare Earth resources. The reason behind that being directly related to the underlying actions in our democratization, dare I say Crusade. A crusade that actually has little to do with the main stated purpose of Freedom and Democratization .

I’ve said all this not agreeing with the violence on the part of any nation. Violence which I believe to be somewhat caused by our example. Holding a policy position, while actions are taken that don’t  move towards that policy position, is a method of influence our leaders have used in the past many times. Now I expect everyone to utilize the same method, in achieving their goals.

I love my country. I would never accept someones physical control of our nations land. By that I can also understand those who don’t appreciate our occupation. So, I feel in moving our foreign policy forward ,while maintaining our place as a  world power, with a voice that’s listened to, requires a change in the implementation our foreign policy. I know and recognize there are powers within the United States, who will fight against any change of direction in our foreign policy, as it means monetary losses themselves and their friends.

Returning to a point where we had control of ourselves, requires that the public for a start,  recognizes that fear is being used as a method of quiet control here at home. Fear that guides the public into unquestioning acceptance of our nations actions abroad. Actions taken in all our name. Actions where war and conflict, death and destruction, divide and conquer are the method used for the implementation of our foreign policies. A policy, as I’ve stated of, “I must get mine before you get yours”, resource control, under the guise of spreading freedom and democracy.

Morals and ethics, even when they take effort and sacrifice to achieve, will serve you better when it comes to respect, than raw force and power.

In Need of a Lecture

I see, a point of breaking has been reached. I wonder about the logic, behind the reaction. I have to question the  decisions taken around the world, presently. I’m not sure we can leave anyone out at this point. Nor can we not acknowledge the position we hold and the part we play. We can’t, in understanding our place, refuse to place responsibility where it belongs. Understanding our place, admitting our culpability, and exposing the culpability of others, where justified, while changing our own policies, would be a strong step forward. Policies we’ve held for sometime, have only been expansionary, as we occupy to increase in our influence.

I’m not sure of this incidents timing. I’m forced here to look at this, knowing that the stated reasoning for “counter attack “ could be any number of convenient, pre-prepared reasons. Reasons the could be used at anytime, with no one questioning the logic, here in the west. So why now? Answer. It further destabilizes the region.

We have the same policy strangely with Saudi Arabia. You see political and social oppression for physical gain, is practiced there. As it is in Israel. We support them both, generally without question.

With the advance of history, and the years, we’ve lost any moral high ground ,we were once able to claim. We only help to advance those in the world, if they subscribe fully to our system democracy. And those who we influence, rightly or wrongly, have exactly zero experience with democracy of any kind. Let alone, an americanized version.

What freedom is it that we are trying to provide? From what I can tell, freedom is the freedom of markets, not freedom for the people. Freedom for the people would mean they could take all the time they needed to get their own country in order. When our brand of freedom really means, allowing corporations to come in and steal resources for pennies. Pennies, when compared to the resources real value. Resources the country we’ve targeted for freedom, might have built its future on. Resources stripped from them with sweetheart deals, bribes and payoffs, for air tight contracts. Left behind for those people’s freed? Toxicity and Destruction, for generations to come.

I can’t support a foreign policy and economy based in corporate greed and military expansionism. That doesn’t even come close to the moral high ground, our country should be working to regain. That is, if we are to be part of the world in the future. We must understand our number has weight, but there are other countries with larger populations. Throwing our weight around may work for now, but continuing to do, as we have, paves our road to the future with more and more bumps and ruts .

We are struggle to stay on top. We should be struggling to regain what our decision makers have thrown away. with their poor choices, over the last dozen years. Whether you think the words just or ignorant, the mistake was to not take the words spoken by George W. Bush, “We are going to mount a crusade”, to their fullest extent. Now here we are 12 years later, on the verge of war on all fronts. Why? Because we won’t change. Because changing means admitting our policy errors, and what’s been wrought from those errors.

If our country had a mom, we’d be getting such the lecture about our behavior.

The Economic Butterfly Effect and Election Day

Re-post from June 13, 2012, Very interesting, looking back

The Economic Butterfly Effect and Election Day.

If Romney is our Winner…

If Romney is our winner, oil and mineral commodity futures should boom, and corporations with operations in those sectors should also rise. I can’t say the same for any other interests. Guessing, I’d say those companies with government contracts will fair well, even as troubles continue. This isn’t necessarily a good thing.

I fear the retailers and retail product manufacturing  sectors of our economy will take a hit. This holiday feels light to me, on the will to buy. If those Funds are parted with this shopping season, I think they should be viewed with the buzz word  “unsustainable” by the public. The reasoning here, the public is who will be forced to cover the government spending, no matter the party calling the shots. Both parties want to spend, but need a quick sharp rap on the head to get their SH*T together, and their priorities straight.

Both Parties want to spend, on their pets. It’s the way of politics and politicians, newly elected or re-elected. If that’s no scary enough, Sequestration looms, in a lame duck session, and it’s good for no one. If that doesn’t scare the SH*T out of you, It Should.

Don’t fool yourselves, either way it goes it’s looking like a damn bumpy ride, and frankly this election season hasn’t made any road easier. We all as citizens, are sure to bare the brunt.

The other reality is, the party that holds office this term, isn’t set up with a good chance for the next election, looking at the presents trends.

The hope, if there is one, there’s capital out of the markets presently, and maybe something in the next four years can get those moneys out of the proverbial safe, and back in play in the markets. However, personally I hold out little hope, with issues as they are. Not just here at home, but Worldwide.

Tough Times?

Tough Times? No. Absolutely Brutal. Note though the Stock Markets Recovered losses and grown. Some Banks even reporting record earnings. While scandal after scandal is slowly trickled through the media. Earnings are up for those at the top, while those in the middle and bottom lose Jobs and Homes. MacDonald’s, a place many go for a cheap meal, for themselves or their families, from the “Value Menu”, business is off. Private Parties with huge resources work to manipulate government, that was to be by and for the people. Language of continued conflict, presses on a war weary country. Jobs are shipped over seas, while infrastructure, built long ago to support industrial growth, falls to pieces. But no, there’s no class warfare being waged….No.
