Sleep Technology

My nights are an oddity. As far back in memory as I can go, my sleep habits haven’t been what others consider normal. When I was younger it was much more difficult. I had a record player by my bunk-bed. An old heavy thing. But then again, I’m old enough to not just remember 8 track tapes, but to have used them in my youth. I believe I was 5-7 yrs old and I would try to play a record, usually some Disney production, to keep myself company awake at night. I have memories of my mother yelling from her room, “it’s time to go to bed”.

Technology may advance, but as I got older my sleep issues never changed. My advancement in technology was a small transistor radio. It was small blue mono with a single hearing aid style ear insert, and I loved it. I developed a love of audio-theater, being drawn by CBS Radio Mystery Theater and voice styles of the classic radio news broadcasters. My sleep was close to impossible, without the soft voice that fades to white noise, as I finally drifted away.

Times do change and the transistor radio from the years before my teens, becomes a stereo radio, Sony Walkman. Needless for me, this stereophonic sound, having developed a taste for AM radio talk shows. Even young I understood the struggle people had with money and investing, and these subjects where my passion, I listened for them every night as I moved up and down the dial. I always hoped to find one just starting its broadcast, knowing it might be possible then to drift away

The developments in communications and broadcasting have moved like lightning. I’ve enjoy those leaps in technology as much as others, but still my personal advances in getting a better nights sleep, haven’t been so spectacular. Tapes, Cd’s, Internet, Mp3 players, Satellite Radio MP4 players, Wi-Fi, and now the Cloud for our use. A thing of wonder when properly considered.

My use of available technologies has moved ahead with the times, and my tastes for media has changed too over the year. I use the Internet to feed my passion of news forecasting and opinion on Economics, Investments, Banking, and Government policies, around the world. While at night I now drift and fade to Literary Classics in audio book form.

I may not get 7-8 hours of sleep a night, in fact I average between 3-4 hours, but my experience of my tossing and turning while others rest, has become a richer and fuller insomnia experience with technologies advancement. For counting sheep, warm milk, chamomile tea, Benadryl, (diphenhydramine) prescription sleeping pills, sounds of nature tapes white noise makers, and brandy at bedtime I have no thanks. But for those who’ve worked to enrich my experience of  insomnia and sleepless night with such bedtime (for me) technological wonders, I thank you all.

Bringing Back Balance

Balance is not achieved by “bailouts” or  protection of “too big to fail” businesses and banks. you gain balance through competition. Balances isn’t gained by treating those who’ve been associated with ethical impropriety, like deities.  Giving them huge bonuses, as if tithing to god.

You create balance when there is competition. This would exclude the act of making “too big to fail”, even larger.

Competition relies on choice. Choice between the medium and the small institutions competing for your business and deposits, with ethical services and care for their customers, “the savers”. A punished class today and tomorrow, if such trends continue.

This is a supply and demand, capitalist structure. A structure that has been totally lost since the end of 2007.

So many things have been and will be lost with this quiet and complete change. The confusion was a created  crisis. The prefect cover and misdirection to keep the public blinded by distraction.

With our change and the worlds change, to saving banks because of their own poor derivative sales purchases and frauds, opposed to protecting their citizens voters and people tells me, the battle ground is now the public’s fight against an elite, power imposed Neo-feudalism .

Complaining about the Generations

I’m almost amused. Almost. I was thinking about how the generations, when adults, always complain about those generations in their youth. I think it’s been so, for a very long time. You can even hear the common statement of the group of elders, in your head if you try. Just go for cliché. “Oh, The world is going to hell, with the way these kids are today.” There’s also always some sort of discussion about Behavior, Disrespect, Lack of values, even Criminal Activities.

Yet each generation of our children grow into their teen years raised on a media diet that exposes the elder generations greatest worry concern and deepest fear. Installing, almost willingly through media indoctrination, exactly those issues and actions that grasp the attention of their elders, as weapons for a rebellious youth.

Youth will always rebel, and unfortunately most youth, because of their youth, have little wisdom. Rebellion without wisdom is a dangerous and volatile mix. Add a little depression and you have a bomb. Take take as a loose example, the Newtown, Connecticut shootings, at Sandy Hook Elementary School.

We as the elder generation, concentrate our scorn on the language of youth. A truly expressive even productive way to event frustration and anger. Stifling most chances for our aging youth, to relate the internal stresses rampant in those years, to those whom should listen and guide. But those who are to listen allow the disaffected youth, close to unfettered access to their deepest fears, through news, serial programs, movies, and video games.

We have created many and increasing hardships on youth and young adults. By a changing work force. By divorces, unwed mothers, and absentee fathers. By failures in education due to standardized testing and ever-increasing budget cuts. A choice lessening the draw of college students to teaching. A career path seen to have unfair remuneration standards, with little to no prestige and ever decreasing gratitude, and a growing need for out-of-pocket expenditures for proper lessons.

These actions, whether it’s the language restrictions that stifled communication, media exposure to a cultures greatest fears, the parental guidance for the young that’s missing, due to a changing work force and new family types, the growing lack of quality comprehensive primary and secondary education, because of a lessening in activities, facilities, materials, assistance, and standards, or a fall in those who would glory in teaching, if they weren’t crapped on, has taken a toll on our children.

That almost amusing part is, each one of these actions on the younger generation that’s caused damaged, cast aspersions, or drove one to a violent outburst, were either voted on, chosen by, or allowed by the adults. And strangely, those same adults, are the ones who often complain about, or criticize the next generation. And even more odd and disturbing, those same adults again, were those who as adults should have protect and guide those youths to adulthood.

The Difference Between Rich and Poor

If you are rich and don’t like how you’re treated, you immigrate .

If you are poor and don’t like how you’re treated, you self-immolate.

I believe this describes nicely, where we stand on the realities of wealth disparity, and a class war most ignore. Which, in our ongoing patriarchal ignorance, has re-pressurize Sexism and Race issues, with the subconscious fears of white men. Irrational fears In my think, but common to politicians and bankers.

They always believe they are moments away from losing the only thing they hold dear. ” Their Power”.
I look at current conditions and trends, and those who control multinational companies, financial institutions, and western government as the wealth siphon from the bottom up continues.

I expect both practices of rich and poor to grow, using Greece as the template for my theory.

SOTU: Playing with Words

Playing with words….I found this amusing, in looking at how the Catholic Church describes Priests who have abused young church parishioner . They use the word homophile. I believe, considering those who sustained the abuse were generally all children,  the proper word is pedophile.

This is an easy and current example, of something that’s done all the time. Obviously churches use this method of word replacement, to adjust meaning and impact. But governments, broadcasters of information, public relations marketing/advertising agencies, and anyone who is desirous of shaping and forming public opinion, also use this method.

Words have power. Words can excite, anger, annoy, and cause one to ignore. Words can clarify and words can cloud. With a State of the Union Address tonight, there’s a chance to see a Master of word manipulation, who’s assisted by other masters of substance camouflage , at the top of their game.  The sheer spectacle, fun for the entire  family.

You could use the cancelling technique throughout the address, marking and cancelling statements that contradict each other. My bet is, by the end of the President’s 30-60 min address, using the cancelling technique, you may actually find nothing’s been said at the addresses end.

What’s to Come

I think if you mix Edwin Starr’s song War, and a quote from Isaac Asimov’s, Foundation Trilogy, “Violence is the last refuge of the incompetent.”, you may get close to my feelings about what’s to come.

You can see the trend of actions, fiscal and military.

If you use syllogism, for your deductive reasoning, the outcome is clear.

During times of economic inflation or hyper inflation, there is little better way to deflate than War.

Awareness Comes Too Late

I’m speaking of finance and government, when I say you can’t have it both ways. It’s absolutely ridiculous, and simply a dream. It’s false hope, and works directly against the individual. A dream that perpetuates, and even worsens, the problems individuals will suffer in the long run.

Finance, in the case the Federal Reserve, continues the process of dollar devaluation. Its printing at this time appears to be an addiction. It’s purchase of housing derivatives, dangerous to say the least. As another housing bubble grows on the public’s books, through the dominance of government lending in the sector.

The close to zero percent borrowing rates, only serve to allow a direct drain from the public coffers. Those rates also allow for continued increases in risk and speculation, in newly created financial vehicles, that will most likely grow their own speculative bubbles.

We can see the track government is treading, as the Federal Reserve increases it’s purchasing of debt based, mortgage-backed securities to $80+ billion per month. The track being followed, obviously, as the fed increases QE, is straight over the fiscal cliff. I don’t believe there is any cause at this point to hold out hope.

These efforts though seem some how designed, in the long run to cause rebellion, when the reality and facts of this folly and abuse of power come to light. Unfortunately I see an impoverished population under Marshall Law, as the realities of living under a stylized fascist system of controls, fully reaches the oppressed impoverished masses. The acknowledgment finally, of the unconstitutional abuses of power, will come too late. The recognition of the theft of savings and retirement, won’t bring the wealth confiscated back. It also won’t stop the further drain of savings or the illegal appropriation of savings by financial entities, for their own purposes.

How do I know this will be the case, some may ask. Well let me say, following the current trends of government and finance point to this conclusion. Not to mention the policy trends from our partner nations, such as the UK, pointing in the same direction.

As the little guy, a place held by the majority of the population, I know suffering in great measure is on the way. Some would have you think the difficulties have passed and things are getting better. I think they are promoting a false sense of security.

We need to acknowledge this depression, as no government or financial institutions will. We are flat broke. We have bailed out banks, and they make their money by increasing debt. If these few things of the many other pointing the same direction are true, we are in trouble unimaginable. Especially if one also considers, the present climate of international affairs.

I am concerned, as I write this, with all people everywhere. I pray for all humanity. I want only the best for all people. I may focus on my own, but I never lose sight of others. If there are those out there who can say the same, maybe all is not yet lost.

A Game of Control and Power

I have a certain level of disappointment with my peers. How can the present manipulations fraud and lies go unnoticed. To me, these games played by those who have money and power or both, are obvious. Yet the outcry, for response to these issues, is almost silent. It’s as if the majority of the populace is willingly deaf dumb and blind to the abuse perpetrated by those with money and or power.

The manipulations, by the powers that be, is almost glaringly obvious. Even pushing up-stream against public opinion polls, to achieve their goal. The reason for going against the grain, money and power.

One would think, in a time of crisis, awareness would rise. I have found this assumption on my part false. In fact I feel it’s just the opposite. I see less attention paid by individuals, who should know better. It’s as if the citizens who should be actively speaking out, have become ostriches, by placing their heads fully in the sand.

Stealing the investments of individual savers, with high frequency algorithmic trading and the printing of money, are just 2 ways the public is taking it in the shorts. Remember that every dollar printed lowers buying power. Another way to look at the issue, sees your working wage shrinking, as more dollars enter the system. This, with the close to free money loaned to those who meet the criteria, after bank bailouts, is another burden to which the citizens are mostly blind.

The majority of citizens seem to be blind, when it comes to mainstream medias cozy relationship with government, and the manipulations they use to shape and form public opinion. I have commented, in the past, how media is beholding to the powers that be, for a story. A term I feel is appropriate. I see a story as, most commonly, a work of fiction. Then, when you add entertainment and Hollywood stories, and you come full circle, with the dissemination of processed fluff, presented as hard news.

The situation, when I look at the state of world finance, our changing domestic policy, and our present foreign policy of physical occupation, is dire. The confluence of all these things paints a much different picture, than the one given to our country’s citizens. This will get worse, not better. Even with all the promises made by improving statistic.

I know no other way, than writing on these topics, to reach people with my message. A message that pleads with my fellows, for increased awareness, and the questioning of the powers that be. Even having as few readers as I do I must still try. I must still write. Just the possibility of  increased awareness, in one person, gives me the drive to publish my thoughts and concerns on these issues each day.

Fighting the Egocentric Army

Worry, concern, compassion for ones fellow human beings, has faded. The manufactured, self-centered, egocentric army advances. As well as the societal filters that blind us to the suffering of others, and the growing inequity within our own systems of belief. With little notice or commentary, the populations of advanced countries are guided to their own self-absorbed doom. Led as they are, even in times of crisis, to accept the manipulations of the media. Even answering the call for increased consumption of goods, propagandized as the public’s duty. This “duty” going almost completely unquestioned. Because those that do question, receive the media’s label of anti-American. Or worse.

Just the promotion of these actions to the public, serves to advance an intolerant view. Between disinformation and the advancement of a competitive consumer culture, you have a less informed population willing to stand in a line. Sometimes, for days. Simply to replace a still workable and functioning gadget, with a slightly revised version of the same product. Never taking into account, they already have and own the same product.

It’s manufactured madness. A condition which allows specific concerns, to tell the public who they are, by what they believe and consume. It allows for the stifling of dissenting opinion, and sets the mark between the in and out, the haves and have not, the popular in crowd, and those to be considered outside the excepted norms. It divides a population, because a united population is a danger to the dominate systems power.

Government, finance, and business worldwide, can’t survive in their present form, if a united front, of an educated populace, not distracted by entitled consumerism, or a feeling of needing to keep up with the Joneses”, truly grows in numbers and voice. If awareness grows, concerning the actions of the manipulative mainstream media. The public might speak out against the dumbing down of information and the reporting of half stories. The public could begin to see how media corporations edited news stories and choose advertising that fits the media company’s corporate agenda.

The conversation about a media created, first world, programmed consumer culture, must continuing. It is key to ending its folly. There are many unread news sources, columns, and bloggers, opining on the same issues mentioned here. I am proud to add my thoughts and words to the others, with continued posts on this subject.

I want the best for my fellows, and that includes truth. One person at a time, is how to break the hold on the public’s psyche. The possibility of my words, added to the other voices, helping one person to change their perspective and point of view, away from the self-absorbed doom, is why I continue writing.
