Sleep Technology

My nights are an oddity. As far back in memory as I can go, my sleep habits haven’t been what others consider normal. When I was younger it was much more difficult. I had a record player by my bunk-bed. An old heavy thing. But then again, I’m old enough to not just remember 8 track tapes, but to have used them in my youth. I believe I was 5-7 yrs old and I would try to play a record, usually some Disney production, to keep myself company awake at night. I have memories of my mother yelling from her room, “it’s time to go to bed”.

Technology may advance, but as I got older my sleep issues never changed. My advancement in technology was a small transistor radio. It was small blue mono with a single hearing aid style ear insert, and I loved it. I developed a love of audio-theater, being drawn by CBS Radio Mystery Theater and voice styles of the classic radio news broadcasters. My sleep was close to impossible, without the soft voice that fades to white noise, as I finally drifted away.

Times do change and the transistor radio from the years before my teens, becomes a stereo radio, Sony Walkman. Needless for me, this stereophonic sound, having developed a taste for AM radio talk shows. Even young I understood the struggle people had with money and investing, and these subjects where my passion, I listened for them every night as I moved up and down the dial. I always hoped to find one just starting its broadcast, knowing it might be possible then to drift away

The developments in communications and broadcasting have moved like lightning. I’ve enjoy those leaps in technology as much as others, but still my personal advances in getting a better nights sleep, haven’t been so spectacular. Tapes, Cd’s, Internet, Mp3 players, Satellite Radio MP4 players, Wi-Fi, and now the Cloud for our use. A thing of wonder when properly considered.

My use of available technologies has moved ahead with the times, and my tastes for media has changed too over the year. I use the Internet to feed my passion of news forecasting and opinion on Economics, Investments, Banking, and Government policies, around the world. While at night I now drift and fade to Literary Classics in audio book form.

I may not get 7-8 hours of sleep a night, in fact I average between 3-4 hours, but my experience of my tossing and turning while others rest, has become a richer and fuller insomnia experience with technologies advancement. For counting sheep, warm milk, chamomile tea, Benadryl, (diphenhydramine) prescription sleeping pills, sounds of nature tapes white noise makers, and brandy at bedtime I have no thanks. But for those who’ve worked to enrich my experience of  insomnia and sleepless night with such bedtime (for me) technological wonders, I thank you all.

Bringing Back Balance

Balance is not achieved by “bailouts” or  protection of “too big to fail” businesses and banks. you gain balance through competition. Balances isn’t gained by treating those who’ve been associated with ethical impropriety, like deities.  Giving them huge bonuses, as if tithing to god.

You create balance when there is competition. This would exclude the act of making “too big to fail”, even larger.

Competition relies on choice. Choice between the medium and the small institutions competing for your business and deposits, with ethical services and care for their customers, “the savers”. A punished class today and tomorrow, if such trends continue.

This is a supply and demand, capitalist structure. A structure that has been totally lost since the end of 2007.

So many things have been and will be lost with this quiet and complete change. The confusion was a created  crisis. The prefect cover and misdirection to keep the public blinded by distraction.

With our change and the worlds change, to saving banks because of their own poor derivative sales purchases and frauds, opposed to protecting their citizens voters and people tells me, the battle ground is now the public’s fight against an elite, power imposed Neo-feudalism .

The Austerity Sandwich

What is the result of gorging, on economic indulgence? The Austerity Sandwich.
There’s a lot more gorging going on, on the people, than by the people. Even though few within the middle working classes have acknowledged it. Soon though.
You see the “Funny Thing” is, the corporate person can’t eat the sandwich. Who eats the austerity sandwich? Take one guess……with a continuing zero percent interest-rate policy (ZIRP)…it’s you. You, the non corporate, real human-being .
I fear soon, capital from middle and working class investments will have finally depleted enough for true, cross party line outrage. Whether the change will present a new leading political, economic philosophy, for our banking and investment culture, I can’t say. I also can’t say if it would be for the better. Unfortunately, my gut says, I doubt it, and I have Celiac Disease.
All I can say looking into the future at The Austerity Sandwich is, Oh Sh*t.

What’s to Come

I think if you mix Edwin Starr’s song War, and a quote from Isaac Asimov’s, Foundation Trilogy, “Violence is the last refuge of the incompetent.”, you may get close to my feelings about what’s to come.

You can see the trend of actions, fiscal and military.

If you use syllogism, for your deductive reasoning, the outcome is clear.

During times of economic inflation or hyper inflation, there is little better way to deflate than War.

Seasonal Insanity

Once again I am confused. It happens to me every Holiday season. In my life I can say, I’m not exactly what most would consider normal, as it deals with Material Culture. You see, I don’t worry about things like grease spots on a shirt, or water spots on silverware. In my life, situations like an overflowing toilet, are not what I consider a crisis. It won’t ruin my day, or cause some kind of Drama trauma. I also, in my reasoning, don’t hunger for the latest, in vogue, electronic gadget. These things have little importance to me on the grand scale.

Having these beliefs and ways, I come into conflict with the programmed consumerism, that’s exaggerated this time of year. It’s a sad spectacle for me, not understanding the drive. Black Friday participation, seems more like a programmed Borderline personality disorder of the consuming public, to me. In this manifestation, the retail businesses are simply the enablers. Businesses who put a small number of crazy low-priced goods, know what they are stimulating. They desire the feeding frenzy, of consumers driven temporarily insane. They need those who are  willing to stand in line, and wrestle around for overpriced plastic or electronic goods, to pump their bottom line for stock holders. Goods manufactured abroad. Products that have possible directly or indirectly taken the job of a friend neighbor or family member who’s struggling to find work or stay in their home.

The once a year manufactured buying frenzy, not only has caused a portion of  the previously mentioned jobs housing issue, but it has also caused a loss in perspective as to the true nature of such holidays. Here I’m not talking about the religious connections, but the connection of people, as they gather together in warmth and friendship, peace and love.

I hate to say this during the holidays, and considering difficult economic times with large unemployment figures and massive private debt, although that’s seems to be slowly being whittled away, but this massive  frenzied consumerism of foreign-made goods, with built-in planned obsolescence, is only taking the unemployed, under employed, and blue-collar union workers, whose jobs are being shipped overseas, is only serving to shoot those groups in the foot. Hobbling their own futures.

In this annual, traditional, manufactured insanity,  I believe the consumer forgets they have a vote here, within this insanity. Forgotten or unknown to shopper, is the ability to vote with their dollars. They forget this power, or simply ignore it to their detriment. You see in this craze, there are moral and ethical choices to be made. The chance to not buy from companies who utilize slave or child labor, is only one. To say with a purchase of one manufacture goods over another, that you approve of the higher standard of business ethics they keep over, above, and beyond their competitors, is another. I also don’t think basic workers rights, or the opportunity to buy goods manufactured in your own country, can be ignored either. And these are only a few ways to vote with money.

There is nothing wrong with being a consumer, we all are. There is an issue with being an ignorant consumer, that cuts their own future fiscal throat. The rights or wrongs are not mine to judge, I merely opine here on the present condition. I do think however ,that during the Seasonal Shopping Wars, that an ignorant consumer is tantamount to cannon balls, shot at our nations economy.  Economic traitor, who needs consumer re-education. So they too may realize their own folly,  in causing themselves economic damage.  I’ll add to that also, so they quit shooting those who are already educated, thinking shopper, in the damn foot. Hobbling to an extent, our own economies growth and job production.

My wish only wish for the consumer portion of the holiday, is that there are more of us doing the right thing when it comes to Voting with our seasonal shopping dollar.

From Complex to Simple

I find it an oddity in human beings, that procrastination is always the choices, when it comes to taking and making important decisions.. As individuals most of us do fine by the percentages in the management of life. As complexities build, by adding individuals to these groups. The management of the group system becomes more complex, the larger the count of individuals within the group grows.

From there, each movement of that group, as a whole, becomes weighted with added complexity to the management system. There are many and varied examples, if one thinks for a moment. When the groups finally are confront from within, most are too large to easily change, for the needs of their members. Clubs committees religions business government, and many other group archetypes, are these systems of giant complexity.

These Mega-systems are long to change, quick to respond, structures. Some are so large, the decision making process is a fettered one. As apposing individuals within the group posture, the progress comes to a stop. Compromise is lost to the large group. With individual concerns, for progress to actually take place, the problem of the group has to come to the point, where if nothing is done, the group will fail. A point of so much pressure and pain, the T.I.N.A belief, (There Is No Alternative) truly applies. A breaking point of assured destruction.

If you doubt this, I recommend taking a look at the issues around the world, being managed by these Mega-groups. International and sovereign governments business banks and social control like media, are some of these huge systems, and their overall failure, not to mention the lies, fraud, broken laws, false wars and buddy bailouts, all fit this Mega-model.

Not one of these Mega System, can any longer benefit from one good idea. It simply gets lost in the buzz of these system. Destine if anything, to be watered down altered and made complex. After all that, it may never again see the light of day.

Complex system are fully our problem. Human nature is to simplify and advance. The nature of the Mega-system is to add complexity and obstruct.

If we want to advance change, have more freedom with less corporation manipulation and lies, simplification is the only way to change the pattern of decision making. Simplification is the way to transparency. Simplification is the way to combat manipulations and lies. Simplification also closes the chance for fraud. Our hope and direction as people on mass, should be to work for the simplification of these complex system,. It is the one thing I believe will lead us, into a better future for all mankind.

The Economic Butterfly Effect and Election Day

Re-post from June 13, 2012, Very interesting, looking back

The Economic Butterfly Effect and Election Day.

If Romney is our Winner…

If Romney is our winner, oil and mineral commodity futures should boom, and corporations with operations in those sectors should also rise. I can’t say the same for any other interests. Guessing, I’d say those companies with government contracts will fair well, even as troubles continue. This isn’t necessarily a good thing.

I fear the retailers and retail product manufacturing  sectors of our economy will take a hit. This holiday feels light to me, on the will to buy. If those Funds are parted with this shopping season, I think they should be viewed with the buzz word  “unsustainable” by the public. The reasoning here, the public is who will be forced to cover the government spending, no matter the party calling the shots. Both parties want to spend, but need a quick sharp rap on the head to get their SH*T together, and their priorities straight.

Both Parties want to spend, on their pets. It’s the way of politics and politicians, newly elected or re-elected. If that’s no scary enough, Sequestration looms, in a lame duck session, and it’s good for no one. If that doesn’t scare the SH*T out of you, It Should.

Don’t fool yourselves, either way it goes it’s looking like a damn bumpy ride, and frankly this election season hasn’t made any road easier. We all as citizens, are sure to bare the brunt.

The other reality is, the party that holds office this term, isn’t set up with a good chance for the next election, looking at the presents trends.

The hope, if there is one, there’s capital out of the markets presently, and maybe something in the next four years can get those moneys out of the proverbial safe, and back in play in the markets. However, personally I hold out little hope, with issues as they are. Not just here at home, but Worldwide.

Empire and Fear

I’m a news watcher listener and reader. I try to feed myself a diet of news that’s balanced. Often after a story is presented, I move to research what’s been said, digging into the background. This digging usually starts from my favorite subject geopolitical economics.  I think this subject is best viewed through the lens, of  the well known phrase, “follow the money”. In looking at the subject  I’ll mention, I try to find who benefits from the decisions taken.

I don’t expect this to be clear to all, or  or even make sense to many others who might read this. These things are personal observations, and may not be thought of in the same way by other. These statements on my observations are disturbing, and well should be. I see them as an ever increasing trend, from individuals and media alike. Maybe they bother or disturb others. Really, I’m not sure. I don’t see the subjects presented in a way, that’s even close to my observation.

The subject that has captured me recently is the rhetoric of violence, being seen in our presidential campaign, this election season and it’s companion rhetoric from the main stream media. whether it be on the subject of Iranian nuclear capability, resetting the reset in post Soviet relations with Russia, or going to war with China. But at least it’s easy to see who will benefit, if the present rhetoric is carried to it’s ends.

The rhetoric is strange to me. Strange rhetoric towards Iran, when every intelligence agency, here and abroad, says they have not made any decision to make a nuclear weapon. Describing their enrichment to 20%  for medical Isotopes, as a weapons program. When sanctions leave the cancer patients to die without treatments. Treatments they create because those sanctions otherwise would deny them materials for treatment. I’m no fan of Iran don’t get me wrong, but enrichment to 90% is need for weapons grade use. This would mean many of their centrifuges would require an upgrade.  Hard to do with such scrutiny of their nuclear program by the IAEA.

The Russian reset has been productive, and they shouldn’t bee viewed as our greatest enemy. Negotiations for less weapons through agreements, have been happening for decades now, and should be no surprise. Nor should there be shock, that a second term president has more freedom to negotiate , not having to run for office again. And Russia I’m sure would like to see some reciprocity, having made concessions for situations and actions in our nations stated interests

Then there is China, where more cooperation, as apposed to threats, might be more effective. As for blaming them for our lost jobs, it’s a gross error.  We’ve done that to ourselves over the last 30 yrs, as we’ve changed policy and practices. Making a move from an industrial based to a service based economy.

We also need to look at,  holding an imperial position world wide. When you hold such a position, you must share your wealth with those colonies you hold, to maintain them. Then add in the costs of foreign aid packages, to places held as imperial positions. This I look at as foreign jobs programs, when there is little accomplished at home in the area of  job growth.

Our future foreign policy, is suffering with these candidate comments. Our media appears to be war mongering and fear mongering for it’s own benefit . Pushing stories with little or no basis in truth or fact. Stories by news sources, that have a direct benefit from a war posture. General Electric owns one network, and is a huge military contractor. The others networks to have a vested interest, in sensationalizing news also. Even if it’s only getting you to view their network, so they can show you ads. And one has to think, what better way to keep a population frightened as they watch, than embellishment and sensationalized news broadcasting  .

Please don’t fall for the fear angle. Remember please, the manipulation of your emotions thru broadcast media, plays with the collective mind. I think this can be seen, if one  remember the terror color scale.  It had no other use, than to keep you afraid and watching.  Manipulating  emotions, so we would all acquiesce, to a false war in Iraq.

These things that happened before, are happening in our media again. It’s also showing its self, in the words of our top politicians. Please no matter your political belief watch closely. Be  truly informed, so to see these manipulations of you emotions through fear, for what they are. What they are is Infotainment. Infotainment is meant to manipulate emotions, to cause fear through half truths and misinformation. Presenting stories worded to shock and scare,  keeps the viewership up. An exercised effort to raise their advertising revenue. The courts have ruled, the news media has no responsibility to present truth. (ref. rBGH)

I urge you, before the politicians and the mainstream news media scare you into a particular belief, that you research what’s said, before you follow the herd motivated by the present false fears headline story and  its rhetoric. this is truly important as we set up for another four year presidential term, for one of the two mainstream candidates.
