Observation: Political Class and Communication

As a politician it’s difficult if not impossible to unite your power base, when you no longer speak the language of your constituents. This though, is exactly what happens after having been immersed in the specialized nomenclature of  law government, and the social circle required by the elected’s mandate.

The diligence placed into speech writing is of no help, as those who write a politicians speech are also steeped in the same class culture.

The truth coming is, if you as a politician can’t communicate with the electorate, you can’t motivate or educate them either. This doesn’t mean a candidate won’t win the election, as their opponent suffers from the same limitation. It does mean however, the person elected in these circumstances is simply keeping a seat warm for someone who is a true leader.

The fact becoming more and more clear is, the language used by those who vote is the language one needs to capture attention, and grow a political power base. Political speak will soon be a detriment to a candidate, as the voters are even more jaded and cynical than ever before. This caused mostly by the contradictions made through political speak, over the last 14 years.

To be fully clear in my observation on this subject, when a politician or would be politician speaks to the public, the style and words used by those who can’t communicate, simply sound, as the political discontent grows among the masses, like sophistry. The key to being a trusted, listened to, powerful leader, is not making speeches that are well received and reviewed by the media. The secret is to speak and be accepted as one of the masses, while communicating to the voters a dream and vision, with follow-through.

That type of leader, takes a special place in our history .

Our Gamed System’s Lack Of Vision

These folks, our elected and appointed elites, need advice with our gamed system. It’s a shame the advice both the main party ideologies seem to have, is from other folks just like themselves. They are bound by beliefs and set practices that bar them from thinking creatively. This has caused us as “just regular citizens” of our country, and many others around the world to suffer. Of course, being regular citizens we know there are many ways to suffer. One of those ways is, the public having to respond to the politicians reactionary policies of fear, as they slam their breaks on sensible policies for our future. No matter what party you do or don’t belong to, we’re always recovering  from political whiplash at the very least.

If they’d only ask someone normal for an idea or opinion, as the present paid advisers, lobbyists, PAC, and Super PAC Spokespersons seem bent on destruction. The legislative powers approve some changes this foolishly, but disallow or don’t even consider other changes which of benefit. They’re plagued by old set practices from a time when our system of governance wasn’t so debased .

Goodness forbid, they might use a few advisers with life experiences, opposed to those with agenda’s, connection, and contracts, to give an honest appraisal. Then pick their minds for a wealth of knowledge, that’s reality based, All at less cost to their all so important elections to privilege, because they actually seem informed. Especially considering, how comical many elected officials look being as out of touch as they are. This might help, you never know. Certainly little else has made a real difference. Then, maybe we could actually address some of our mounting issues, and work on some of these, all around, burdens all.

Personally, I have little hope or sight of this ever happening. You see, every time I look at our politics I have this curious vision problem. I laughingly call my problem a “dystopia”. Today when I look at the political glass, it is neither half full or half empty, but cracked and leaking. I want the best for my fellow Americans, but I can’t see it coming back around. There’s just, no vision.

War Resource

What’s on my mind most today is actually kind of humorous, if only because, the debate they discus is no debate at all. It’s simply fluff distraction, and frankly a moot point with lessons from history. This fake debate is, “Are the Wars being waged in the middle east, southwest Asia and Africa, by western powers, or with their help and moneys, to support, help, and protect people, to push government change to western style democracies, or are they for resources ?”

I’ve had an issue with our network and mainstream news media for some time. It’s really disturbing to me, as I also write a WordPress page “Future News Headlines”. I think of it as a satirical parody of Newspaper Headlines, their manipulations misrepresentations and agenda’s, in a tag-line. So I see a few Headlines, in my daily reading. Really, some are just too much. So, I wanted to comment on this war debate, mentioned to begin with. Just to get my thoughts down.

I believe we can say of Wars, the preponderance whether they begin for resource or not, end for resources. Through time we’ve fought for food, land, tributes, slaves, and in our world patriarchy, women. These haven’t changed through time. No, as we’ve advanced to list of things we fight for has grown. Yet still, all our wars are about resources.

We try to trick ourselves or allow others to try to trick us into believing, a secondary motivated concern is the  known primary. This new primary reason for war, always turns on some humanitarian action. We do this and try to believe it, or have others convince us into believing it, because the alternative has the dominating power looking like the aggressor it actually is. That’s usually us, the Western powers.

We want to believe in our perceived righteous cause. We want to believe we have the moral high ground. We don’t make it there anymore, however. Yet few of us as individuals, actually use raw resources. But among us identified as “people” are those who do use raw natural resources. Those raw natural resources might include the sons and daughters of each citizen as fodder.

The flat fact appears, they are all wars for resources benefiting the élite, before they benefit an overall population. War’s financed by élite financing and supplied by business owned and controlled by the élite. And also, all citizens are resources to get what those élite on top most need. More money and power. But to argue, peace, freedom, and democracy are anything but a cover story, when we have history to refer to, is lying to yourself, not facing reality, and not looking at the whole picture. Peace freedom and real democracy are wonderful beautiful ideals to strive for, even if they aren’t primary concerns when we’re taken to War.

But hey, those are my thought. I don’t expect they’re yours.

Smearing the Lines Between News and Opinion

It’s so difficult, to watch and read news these days. It’s the use of government, special interest, and corporate quotes as facts. It’s representing these statements as truth, with no follow-up investigation to assure truth and accuracy in the reporting, that is disturbing.
The smearing of the line between news facts and opinion, until one isn’t discernible  from the other, by most viewers and readers, is an important  issue . The act alone, almost precludes consumers of these forms of media, from making logical choices based in fact. With dumbed down  news programs, that are short on fact replacing the pertinent, with word manipulation, opinion based propaganda, and additions or censorship’s for the sake of supporting a corporate agenda, I’m not sure what I expect.

These circumstances within sources of information amount to at least lies of omission, and at worst bold-faced overt lies.

Some might think I’m referring to one source over another, right or left broadcasting. No, that is my point. Right/Left broadcasting is counter productive. Whether it’s Fox News or MSNBC, whether it’s Rachel Maddow or Sean Hannity, whether it’s Piers Morgan or Bill O’Reilly, presenting the opinions it matters not. It’s all a disservice to the public.

The public is now and will be, denied facts, investigation, and truth. We’re fed a news diet of opinion based fear and greed. News that’s full of saturated fat, additives, preservatives, and sweeteners. An information diet so unhealthy, were it food, Michael Bloomberg would try to limit or cut it completely from your diet.

Bringing Back Balance

Balance is not achieved by “bailouts” or  protection of “too big to fail” businesses and banks. you gain balance through competition. Balances isn’t gained by treating those who’ve been associated with ethical impropriety, like deities.  Giving them huge bonuses, as if tithing to god.

You create balance when there is competition. This would exclude the act of making “too big to fail”, even larger.

Competition relies on choice. Choice between the medium and the small institutions competing for your business and deposits, with ethical services and care for their customers, “the savers”. A punished class today and tomorrow, if such trends continue.

This is a supply and demand, capitalist structure. A structure that has been totally lost since the end of 2007.

So many things have been and will be lost with this quiet and complete change. The confusion was a created  crisis. The prefect cover and misdirection to keep the public blinded by distraction.

With our change and the worlds change, to saving banks because of their own poor derivative sales purchases and frauds, opposed to protecting their citizens voters and people tells me, the battle ground is now the public’s fight against an elite, power imposed Neo-feudalism .

I Know What I Feel

Here is a sentence that holds more truths than the simple words imply. “I know what I feel.”

Feelings are a burden. The overriding of logic with emotion,. a problem specific only to humans in our animal kingdom. Many times a serious hindrance to our advancement as a species, while it adds depth to culture. Isn’t depth in culture, the path to allow a thinking species its eventual advancement? It feels as if that’s the answer in a times of heightened emotion. Simply talking the foot off the gas, of the one “unified world” theory.

Even the staggering stumbling steps so far, seem destined to fail. As the “Emotions” we share are the same, but the “Feelings” stimulated vary by culture, upbringing, and personal experience. This variance is what causes a continuation to illogical wars. While also making a world governing body an eventual, and inevitable failure, without a change from its present philosophical direction. One which presently seems diametrically opposed to culture, despite the titles given to its programs .

I feel power and domination forcing change, isn’t real change. I feel finding supporters of domination, by the powerful, and their interventions to cause change, isn’t real change either. I’d like to feel centralized power in a few elites, is losing the control it once had. Unfortunately I’m a realist, and the needed technologies aren’t there yet. I also feel it won’t, for many “justified“ reasons . I don’t feel good about that either, because there are many methods implemented to form the cultures opinion. Not all of those methods are of organic origin, but planned manipulations. All opinions can’t even yet be understood without this depth of cultures. I feel there is constant work to stifle this depth, going on behind the scenes daily.

I feel a wave is slowly forming in all regions of the world, and I’m not speaking of the many “springs”. I feel a wave of understanding has begun to take form, on the manipulations of the past, and the abuses brought on the various cultures by those manipulations. I feel the worst part is, these manipulations of people’s  over the years  were somehow for me.

I fail to understand those with power. I see power in domination, but I see how compromise has infinite power as well. Even if it’s a slightly different form. How can this not be seen as the tool it is? Is it that it’s more difficult and requires one to learn new tactics? To actually think. The power wielded through compromise builds feeling and cultural connection. Power through domination, overt or subtle, stomps feeling and cultural connection.

We value material as the citizens of a nations of dominating power, not culture. Is that the right side of history? I feel human drones aren’t what we were to aspire to . A mirror image of each other worldwide, isn’t a rich place to live. Even with the latest I-Phone, you’re just another worker bee.

Our world is as diverse as its people and their feelings. Those feelings form opinions. The present trend of a “one size fits all” method of rule, seems destined to fail. Unification of cultures isn’t possible yet, with our lack of depth. Our understand of each other has some way to go I feel, and from now on cultural depth is under fire.

My reference for these thoughts of mine are, “I know what I feel”.

The Eye Sliders

I call it “The Eye Slide”. Maybe others have noted it too. It’s an odd phenomenon. I see it as a mental filter. One which allows an individual to not acknowledge the disabled, deformed, destitute, and diseased, in their direct line of sight and peripheral vision.

After observing the condition on many occasions, I believe the function is that of a reverse mirage. A Mirage allows for a wish, during a stress experience, to projected and become visible . The Eye Slide allows  a shaded, blurred, even a completely removal of the undesirable, based on the Sliders own  prejudices  (not stress)

An Eye Slide Fail is extremely amusing. I find though, a fail, often results in a quiet drama. One usually with belittling language, as the Eye Slider’s forced to face the failure of their filters. Out of sight, out of mind, no longer a possibility, Eye Sliders, by percentage, seem to become verbally hostile.

My favorite Eye Slider hostility, hearkened back to the days of bed chains and euthanasia, as methods to purify the population. The catalyst to the outburst, took place at a bus stop. The Eye Slider had completely digressed. Himself becoming what his personal filters, as an Eye Slider, attempted to remove.

There is a personality type to the Eye Slider. Their traits are selfish, and self obsessed. I say jokingly, they carry the Me First Gene. A definite useful attribute, when we we’re confronted daily, with our own internal fight or flight responses, as we struggled for survival. A time in our far past, when we used stone tools.

The Eye Slider’s, Me First Gene, causes the Eye Slider to believe the disabled, deformed, destitute, and diseased are directly stealing from the Eye Slider in some way. That the prompt disposal of these undesirable, will allow for the success, somehow always out of reach to the Eye Slider. The Bus Stop returns, with the Eye Slider telling the target of their anger, they are a waste of human skin. And should have never been born.

This is a large problem in our society. I give you the scene, made at a bus stop. There are millions of examples for all to see, other than my observation. In this bus stop conflict, the Eye Slider was male approx 30 yr old. The target of his hate and anger, a teenage girl with Downs Syndrome.

This is a trend in our society. Open your Eyes, and don’t let this trend continue it’s Slide forward.

A Disposable Future

IMAG0708 I wanted to write something of my thoughts, about what I feels is an odd change in us and our thinking. Personal and corporate. I’ll start with family. My mother is careful with all she has. When I think about her kitchen, there are things my eyes are drawn to, that have been around for decades. An example of that is a set of knives. I’ve used knives as a professional, and these are great.  They are also, over 40 years. old. I find that amazing, because I think we all know now, that the Ginsu with all the wonderful advertising  through commercials and infomercials, are a waste of 20 bucks. That’s still true, no matter how much free plastic they give you with it. To send it back under its lifetime warranty, a waste of time. Why a waste of time?  Because all you get back is another crappy knife. I think this shows nicely, the change we’ve gone through, in what is actually a very short time.

I believe this says something about where we are going, as we slip into our self imposed future. A disposable future . The rise of the infomercial age and beyond.

I remember when you bought something, not already thinking about your next something.  This is caused by, the changed expectations we now have for our purchases. Actually planning to spend  money on the same type of product again, as soon as we buy or finance our new “Thing”. Why?  We know, even though no one said a word, that what we spent our money on won’t last.

Cellphones are on two year contracts, which is good because you can’t  rely on it lasting longer. Televisions are made to last 5 years. Cars 5-7 years, for a regular driver. Clothing’s made to fall apart, permeates the market. But that’s really not the manufacturers.

In the late 70’s early 80’s advertising and marketing professionals, created this market of lowered expectations. It appears, as our consumer confidence waned in American made goods, it became easier to allow the overseas manufacturers to flooded our markets with goods. Not all of these products were poorly made, but a great many were.

Then pop culture, with its quickening pace and the jaded new generation of consumer, gained purchasing power. Consumers who grew up with no expectation of reliable goods. When they met our economy full on, the mix of the two, consumer and manufacturers, truly lowered the perceived standard of quality and construction. As a  business, why strive to make a quality, long lasting product at a good value, if none of your customer have that expectation of a product?  You meet the quality the consumer expects, and keep your costs, and the consumers cost, down. The theory being, if your customer only expects to buy crap, and does so, give them crap.

Remember, the only responsibility business has is to their stockholders, even if they are considered “persons”. A concept, I never seem to be able to wrap my head around.

I think with crappy products, we as Americans should be happy all these poorly made goods don’t come from here.  (most of our manufacturing base is gone). We need to stop wasting our money, encouraging this behavior from consumers, corporations, and manufactures. I like the idea of buying American, but that’s not now possible in our new world economy. So, I’d like us to be “Smart Consumers”. When I say that, I’m not so much thinking about big-ticket items, as I believe most of us at least try to make quality decisions there. Trying, is all I ask.

Where I think we fail is in everyday items. I make jokes about dollar stores. I shop there myself, but still I feel the same. I see a ton of things that will be tossed away. Why not buy a pancake spatula that will last, and won’t melt the third time you use it? Doing this is only causing  you go spend another dollar for a new one. And trust me, that new one will do just the same as the first. I really feel, we would be better off making more quality goods and more quality durable goods. Even if they cost more, like the old Curtis Mathes Televisions.

I’d like a manufacturing base returned to us, that was more than building machines of war. I’d like to have a better export to offer, than Hollywood movies. I’d like to bring back an expectation in reliable goods, and fill that niche with our countries high quality manufactured goods. I believe we would succeed in the world market, even with higher priced product, because of the quality and durability. It’s possible, because we know we can back those goods, with a promise of quality and service. Because of our pride, knowing we make the best products. There is pride in being able to say, “Yes our products are the most expensive in the world, but unlike the others, ours are darn well worth the price”. I don’t want us to continue down the path we’re on, to our self imposed, “Disposable Future”.

The Forgotten

Vet 2

The forgotten in our society, show our true charitable nature. Oh, we can be wonderfully giving when tragedy strikes, elsewhere in the world. Where as, the adage, “Charity Begins at Home”, are just words to most. What shows here at home, is a sense of Social Darwinism. Strangely, Social Darwinism was one of the most powerful concepts and beliefs of The National Socialist German Workers Party.. Better known to most of the public as the Nazi’s.

Even those who have served in the military, once home from foreign wars, are forgotten. If they weren’t these veterans wouldn’t be living on the street. We should be ashamed of this alone, but we aren’t. We pretend to be outraged if a story reaches the evening news. When the news broadcast is over, It’s out of sight out of mind, until the next time we are asked for a bit of change, from the down and out or those homeless living in cars and on the street.

During the Holiday season we are a bit more generous with those in need. But 31 days out of 365 is a damn poor record of caring and concern, for year in year out hardships of our “Forgotten”.

The problem is a growing one, here in the USA. More than 1.4 million people in our country, now live on 2 dollars a day. As the, “I must have mine before you have yours” grows in the public’s mind. The belief that the destitute and homeless are merely an eye sore, spoiling your view of shops malls and department stores, are the unspoken thoughts of those who are well off or believe themselves to be struggling. Because we all know, when a flat screen, smart TV, isn’t in our home, we are the ones who are suffering. Or at least that seems to be the public sentiment.

Americans are the new French, although the French probably care more for their under privileged population more effectively. Snooty, Snotty, Rude, Spoiled, and believing, even though well off, that they are put upon and made to suffer. All based on the, “I must have mine before you get yours”, system of belief we as a country have cultivated.

I was taught to share to have compassion to take notice of those less fortunate, and if possible try through kindness to lend assistance, as I am able. Unlike my peers my eyes don’t slide off or censor out the less fortunate. I don’t believe they spoil my view. For me,those whom I label as “The Forgotten” need our assistance, not our judgment. For me “The Forgotten” need help, not our ridicule. And as many Americans with no frame of reference, believe they live in the greatest country in the world. As a Nation, like a Team, we are only as great as the weakest among us, and those people are “The Forgotten”.

Awareness Comes Too Late

I’m speaking of finance and government, when I say you can’t have it both ways. It’s absolutely ridiculous, and simply a dream. It’s false hope, and works directly against the individual. A dream that perpetuates, and even worsens, the problems individuals will suffer in the long run.

Finance, in the case the Federal Reserve, continues the process of dollar devaluation. Its printing at this time appears to be an addiction. It’s purchase of housing derivatives, dangerous to say the least. As another housing bubble grows on the public’s books, through the dominance of government lending in the sector.

The close to zero percent borrowing rates, only serve to allow a direct drain from the public coffers. Those rates also allow for continued increases in risk and speculation, in newly created financial vehicles, that will most likely grow their own speculative bubbles.

We can see the track government is treading, as the Federal Reserve increases it’s purchasing of debt based, mortgage-backed securities to $80+ billion per month. The track being followed, obviously, as the fed increases QE, is straight over the fiscal cliff. I don’t believe there is any cause at this point to hold out hope.

These efforts though seem some how designed, in the long run to cause rebellion, when the reality and facts of this folly and abuse of power come to light. Unfortunately I see an impoverished population under Marshall Law, as the realities of living under a stylized fascist system of controls, fully reaches the oppressed impoverished masses. The acknowledgment finally, of the unconstitutional abuses of power, will come too late. The recognition of the theft of savings and retirement, won’t bring the wealth confiscated back. It also won’t stop the further drain of savings or the illegal appropriation of savings by financial entities, for their own purposes.

How do I know this will be the case, some may ask. Well let me say, following the current trends of government and finance point to this conclusion. Not to mention the policy trends from our partner nations, such as the UK, pointing in the same direction.

As the little guy, a place held by the majority of the population, I know suffering in great measure is on the way. Some would have you think the difficulties have passed and things are getting better. I think they are promoting a false sense of security.

We need to acknowledge this depression, as no government or financial institutions will. We are flat broke. We have bailed out banks, and they make their money by increasing debt. If these few things of the many other pointing the same direction are true, we are in trouble unimaginable. Especially if one also considers, the present climate of international affairs.

I am concerned, as I write this, with all people everywhere. I pray for all humanity. I want only the best for all people. I may focus on my own, but I never lose sight of others. If there are those out there who can say the same, maybe all is not yet lost.
